Preview: Leeds United vs Stoke City

Whites face the Potters on Tuesday night.

Leeds United face Stoke City on Tuesday evening, returning to home turf in the Sky Bet Championship (19:45).

The Whites face the Potters under the lights of Elland Road, aiming to extend their unbeaten run at Elland Road in the 2023/24 campaign, which currently stands at 17 matches.

Stoke arrive in West Yorkshire having won just four out of 17 on the road, but they come with confidence, having defeat the Whites on their home ground earlier in the season.

At the weekend, Leeds had to fight from behind against local rivals Huddersfield Town. After going behind in the first half, Patrick Bamford stepped up in the second 45 minutes to equalise.

Tuesday’s visitors got a big three points on Saturday, which were much needed in the battle at the opposite end of the table. Goals from Bae Jun-Ho and Lewis Baker secured a 2-0 win over Middlesbrough.

That win over Boro means Steven Schumacher’s side have won two out of their last eight matches, but will be looking to use the confidence from the weekend to extend that run.

The bottom end of the table is congested, and Schumacher’s side could move as high as 16th with a victory on Tuesday, depending on results elsewhere.

Daniel Farke’s side are in a fight of their own, at the opposite end of the table. Following the results over the weekend, the Whites are now in third spot, two points behind Ipswich Town in second and five points from Leicester City in first.

If Leeds can return to winning ways, again depending on results elsewhere, there is the possibility to move back into the top two positions.
