Leeds United Women ended 2019 with a hard fought 2-0 victory at home to Bolton Wanderers.

The Whites started on the front foot with Rebecca Hunt testing the visitor's goalkeeper from 20 yards, before Abbie Brown saw her free kick from the edge of the area tipped over.

Bolton had the best chance of the first half when Newhouse was put clean through but fired wide. Hindle then followed up by missing a golden chance when presented with a open goal she missed the target.

Abbie Brown and Rebecca Hunt both came within inches of giving Leeds the lead before Brown was denied by an outstanding save on the stroke of half time.

Leeds started the second half with a real impetus with Brown firing just wide and heading over with another attempt.

The deadlock was finally broken when substitute Olivia Smart’s long range effort was deflected in just before the hour mark. Fellow substitute Kirstie Hunt then saw her dipping effort just go over the bar as Leeds looked for a crucial second goal.

Bolton should have been level when Newhouse was put clean through again, but again her shot flew past the post. Abbie Brown saw another shot blocked before Rebecca Hunt fired over from the rebound.

Bolton were still causing Leeds problems when Ogden fired just over from 20 yards before Holly Findlay secured the win, slotting home from 10 yards and ensuing another three points for the Whites.
