Charlie Cresswell signs new contract at Leeds United

Defender commits future to the club.

Leeds United are pleased to announce Charlie Cresswell has signed a new contract with the club.

The defender has put pen-to-paper on a new four-year deal, keeping him at Elland Road until the summer of 2027.

The 20-year-old has progressed through the youth ranks at Thorp Arch, being part of title winning sides with both the Under-18s and Under-23s.

He went on to make his senior debut for the Whites in September 2020 against Hull City in the Carabao Cup and followed this up with six appearances during the 2021/22 campaign, including five in the Premier League.

Last season, Cresswell spent the campaign on loan at Millwall and made an instant impression, scoring two goals on his debut against Stoke City, in a 2-0 victory.

He made a total of 28 appearances in the Sky Bet Championship during his time at The Den, helping Millwall keep 13 clean sheets in the process.

Gary Rowett’s side were fifth in the division in April, when Cresswell suffered a fractured eye socket, forcing the defender to miss the final seven games of the campaign and Millwall went on to win just two matches and slipped out of the Play-Off places on the final day.

Over the summer, Cresswell had success on the international stage, being part of the England Under-21 squad which won the European Under-21 Championship in Georgia and Romania.

Cresswell will wear the number five shirt for Leeds United during the 2023/24 campaign.
