Ivan Toney hit a hat-trick as Leeds United suffered a heavy defeat against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Brentford had the first opportunity of the match inside three minutes, Mathias Jensen pounced on a defensive mistake by Robin Koch, before curling an effort just wide.
The hosts continued to threaten in the early stages, Keane Lewis-Potter latched onto a long ball forward by goalkeeper David Raya, showing superb control, before seeing a deflected strike well saved by Illan Meslier.
Meslier was again forced into action with a Mathias Jensen free-kick, before Joe Gelhardt tried a long range shot, which deflected and wrong-footed Raya, before bouncing just wide.
Brentford carved out another opportunity in the 24th minute, Bryan Mbuemo broke down the right and found Lewis-Potter, but he saw his strike blocked superbly by Koch.
The hosts were controversially awarded a penalty five minutes later, following a VAR intervention. Despite appearing to win the ball, Luis Sinisterra was penalised and booked for a foul on Toney and the Brentford forward stepped up and made no mistake from the spot.
Marc Roca tested Raya from range as the Whites looked to find a route back into the match, before Gelhardt played a lovely one-two with Jack Harrison to break into the Brentford box, but he could only put the opportunity wide.
However, it was the hosts who went further ahead two minutes before the break. Shandon Baptiste won a free kick in a dangerous shooting position, Toney fired the set-piece into the top-right corner, with a fabulous strike, giving Meslier no chance.
Leeds rallied though and Sinisterra scored a wonderful solo goal, flicking the ball forwards over Ben Mee to the edge of the box, before providing a sublime finish into the bottom corner.

Jesse Marsch made one change at the break, with striker Patrick Bamford stepping up his return from injury by replacing Harrison.
Lewis-Potter had the first chance of the second period when the Bee’s hit Leeds on the counter attack, but he was unable to find the target from the edge of the box.
Bamford had a good opportunity to put Leeds level when he broke into the Brentford box from the right and went through on goal, but he could only fire wide from a narrow angle.
Roca was next to go close when he struck inches over from 25 yards, before Meslier made an excellent stop to deny Lewis-Potter when he went through one-on-one.
Tyler Adams then played Sinisterra into the Brentford box, but he was denied by Raya and from the resulting counter-attack, the Bee’s added a third. Following a defensive mistake, Lewis-Potter went through on goal forcing Meslier to make out and make a challenge. The ball then fell to Toney and he managed to complete his hat-trick, finding the target from long distance.
Whites head coach Marsch was shown a red card after venting his frustrations as substitute Crysencio Summerville was felled in the box and the incident didn’t result in the referee having to check the VAR monitor, as in the first half for the hosts.
Bamford should have pulled a goal back for the Whites in the 78th minute, unable to convert a chance from four yards following a cross by Roca and from the rebound, the Spain midfielder was denied by a great save.
However, from the resulting corner, Leeds did get back into the game once again. The ball came out to substitute Luke Ayling, returning from injury and he played a fine low ball for Roca to convert from close range.
It took Brentford less than a minute to restore the two goal cushion though, when Mbuemo raced through on goal after the ball came off the head of Koch and he slotted home. Following a VAR check, the goal stood.
In stoppage time, Brentford substitute Yoane Wissa wrapped up the win, robbing Llorente of possession to go through and score, ensuring a long journey home for the Whites.
