As news filtered out that Patrick Bamford had become the latest Leeds United player to join up with England, the footballing community gave their reactions to the announcement.

Gareth Southgate, England Head Coach:

"There was an opportunity for us in the forward areas, and now it's opportunity for Patrick as a number 9 as well.

His progress with Leeds has been excellent, he was very close at the end of last season with us [before Euro 2020] and this is a very good chance for him to come back in, after having worked with him at U21 level.

It's a fabulous moment for him and his family."

Victor Orta, Leeds United Director of Football:

I first worked with Patrick when we signed him permanently, whilst I worked at Middlesborough, and I’ve always been struck by what a good person he is, as well as a top player.

Under Marcelo he has developed magnificently and I’m delighted that Gareth has rewarded his efforts with a call up to join Kalvin in the National team. More success is to come, I am sure."
