Southampton: Please stay off the pitch

Southampton: Please stay off the pitch

A reminder for supporters.

Ahead of Saturday's final home match of the regular Sky Bet Championship season at Elland Road against Southampton, we would like to remind all supporters to stay off the pitch at all times.

  • No matter what stage of the season we are at, people must respect that the pitch is for players and stands for spectators
  • It is against the law to enter the pitch at any time and anyone who does so will face a ban and police action
  • Recent pitch incursions have brought football bans, police prosecution and criminal records - this can impact employment, education and international travel
  • Everybody should feel safe at football but pitch incursions endanger everyone because at the time it is impossible to tell the difference between celebration and an attack
  • Entering the pitch will likely also result in penalties for the club, so do not spoil it for the team or other fans
  • From fans, to stewards to players, we all have a role to play in keeping each other safe on matchdays
  • We need to protect each other, the club and the game

The club could also be hit with sanctions under FA Disciplinary Regulations Rule 40:

  • Reprimand and/or warning
  • Financial penalty
  • Suspension/expulsion
  • Points deduction
  • Partial stadium closure – the closure of a stand (or part thereof) of a club’s stadium for a specific number of matches
  • Full stadium closure – the closure of a club’s stadium for a specified number of matches (i.e. the playing of a match or matches without spectators being present)
  • Costs for the regulatory commission

Please think about your actions and stay off the pitch.
