Marcelo Bielsa: Other players share a lack of efficiency

Head coach on Queens Park Rangers.

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Queens Park Rangers.

The Whites are looking for a third successive victory at Elland Road, following wins over West Bromwich Albion and Birmingham City.

Bielsa gave an update on injuries ahead of the clash, with Pablo Hernandez in line to come back into the fold.

He said: “Pablo Hernandez is good, Patrick Bamford has a little problem in his ankle, Ezgjan Alioski and Barry Douglas have little problems as well, Forshaw is still not available.

“Douglas has a problem in the knee and Alioski in the side, but it is not definite yet (they are out).

“Pablo is a player who when he is not there we miss and gives a lot of contribution in every match.”

Bielsa also spoke about efficiency and spoke about the importance of spreading goals out throughout the team.

“This is a team which is growing and keeping the level defensively,” said Bielsa.

“The team has improved offensively as well, but our efficiency is worse now and those are the three factors.

“Last season we had a problem with efficiency, but this year, we have increased this problem.

“After this, there is something which is unfair, everybody points to the number 9 for the lack of efficiency, because the number 9 is the player who is closer to the attack, but everybody is involved in the offensive play and other players share a lack of efficiency.

“We can score from outside the box, but we haven’t shot and we can score from set pieces.

“It’s important not to make the centre forward the only person responsible for not scoring enough.”
