Leeds United defender Gaetano Berardi spoke to the press ahead of Saturday’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

The Whites host the Owls at Elland Road, as United look to get back to winning ways in the Yorkshire derby.

Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday go into the game with just one league win each in 2018, but Berardi is optimistic United can get the three points.

“It is an important week and we are looking for a win,” said Berardi.

“It will be a tough game, but we have prepared well, we have worked hard every day to be ready on Saturday and the focus is to try and win the game.

“We’ve made a lot of mistakes this season, but it is not over and we have to give our best on the pitch every time, even in this bad moment.

“I know the head coach and his staff are doing their best for us, like the club has been doing the best for us since the beginning of the season.

“He has come in with a lot of passion and happiness to be here, which is good.

“He came here with his philosophy of how to play football and that is what we needed, we need to follow one way, not three or four ways, to find our style of football.

“We need a win, especially in this next game which is a derby, we need to show something, we need to show that we are not bad.

“As players we need to do more, we have to show we can win this type of game, show we are prepared and I am positive.”
