PEP CLOTET: WE CAN ONLY CELEBRATE A GOOD SEASON AT THE END OF IT

Assistant head coach on season and Birmingham City.

Assistant head coach Pep Clotet took part in an exclusive interview with LUTV to talk about the season so far.

The Whites currently occupy a place in the Play-Offs and strengthened that position with victory last week against Sheffield Wednesday.

Clotet is pleased with how far the group has come, but re-iterated there is still a long way to go and also spoke about the influence of supporters.

“This group of players are doing something fantastic this season, it hasn’t ended yet though, we just need to take it one game at a time.

“We can only celebrate a good season at the end of it, we are proud of what we are doing at the moment, but our only focus is getting as many points as possible.

“We need to keep competing and being solid, everyone is giving their maximum in every game and this is something we need to keep doing.

“I’ve been in many stadiums for many games and what I feel at Elland Road is unbelievable, our supporters lift us.

“It is important our supporters keep helping and lifting us, at home and away they are so loud and we really feel it, it is a big part of our success so far.”

Garry Monk will serve a touchline suspension at Birmingham City on Friday, but whilst Clotet admitted it will be a difficult game, believes the ban on Monk will have little influence on the outcome of match.

“What matters is the players on the pitch and they know what they have to do, they need to be very focused.

“We will be there on the touchline to assist them and help them, but all preparations are the same, barring Garry being in the stand.

“It is going to be a tough game, it is not easy to go away from home and get the points.

“Birmingham will have gained some confidence from their last game against Wolves, it was a good victory and step forward for them.

“I think they will cause us a lot of problems, but we will have to deal with that and try and cause them problems.”
