Foundation host weekly Sporting Memories sessions

Older generation invited to join virtual sessions.

The Leeds United Foundation will continue their Sporting Memories sessions for our older generation of supporters throughout 2022.

The Sporting Memories programme was launched during the 2020/21 campaign as a new health and well-being initiative that would support those in the local community with both their physical and mental wellbeing.

The sessions take place every Wednesday afternoon, running from 1pm to 2.30pm, with coaches from the club’s official charity currently delivering the sessions virtually through Zoom due to the recent COVID restrictions. There are plans to eventually bring the sessions to Elland Road as the season unfolds.

Each session involves a one-hour discussion, that gives the participants the chance to engage with each other, reminisce about past experiences and share their favourite Leeds United and sporting memories. This is then followed by a 30-minute segment dedicated to increasing members physical activity levels. The exercises are suitable for all involved in the session, using low impact and chair-based activities, which should hopefully help ensure all participants are staying fit and healthy.

The sessions take place once a week, however the Foundation coaches stay in regular contact with all participants from one session to the next, making sure they are receiving as much support as they need and hopefully decreasing the chances of people in older generations feeling neglected or lonely.
