Foundation launch goalgiving fundraising initiative

Help raise money to support people in the local community through goalgiving initiative.

Leeds United have launched an innovative way for fans to support the club's official charity through an online platform called 'goalgiving'.

It's a simple, yet effective method and all supporters have to do is sign up for free and become a 'goalgiver' at www.goalgiving.com. Fans simply have to choose an amount they'd like to pledge against either a Leeds win, clean sheet or a goal by either striker Patrick Bamford or summer signing Helder Costa - with more options set to be released in due course.

Imagine if every time Leeds win or Patrick Bamford scores it raises thousands of pounds to help support the programmes delivered by the Leeds United Foundation, which currently help more than 35,000 disadvantaged individuals in and around the Leeds area every year.

It's a win, win for fans as they can choose exactly how much they'd like to donate and if they are worried about spending too much they can cap their donations to a certain amount. Supporters also have the choice to pause or stop their giving at any time throughout the 2019/20 season, with an option to also donate directly to the charity if you're able to.

Alan Scorfield, CEO for the Leeds United Foundation, said: "This is a great way to engage supporters in our fundraising activities. It creates a conversation, keeps the donations topical and ensures fans can be a part of what we do every day in our local community."

Andy Sloan, Co-Founder of goalgiving, said: "Goalgiving was set up by fans and for fans, to enable teams and players to inspire donations and for supporters to get closer to their heroes through a rewards system.

“Leeds have an amazing fan base and when surveyed recently they said the most important thing to them wasn't winning, but a sense of belonging, a strong sense of community. So goalgiving is a great way to bring the fans, the club and the Foundation closer together, so everyone wins."

Every week the cumulative amount pledged for each goal or each win will grow as more fans start to sign up to the initiative, a great example of everyone Marching On Together.
