FAYC Preview: AFC Wimbledon vs Leeds United

Whites travel to West London.

Leeds United Under-18s take on AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday, in an FA Youth Cup fourth round clash in West London (7pm).

The tie was due to be played earlier this month, but was postponed due to adverse weather conditions across the UK, meaning the pitch was frozen and unplayable.

The Whites now head to the Cherry Red Records Stadium at Plough Lane looking to secure a place in the fifth round, after battling hard to overcome Accrington Stanley at Thorp Arch in the third round.

Scott Gardner’s side found themselves two-goals behind against Accrington inside the opening 25 minutes, but a second half fight-back secured progression, with Ben Andreucci netting the decisive goal in second half stoppage time.

Wednesday's hosts have had to play more matches to reach this stage, overcoming three opponents up to now. Wins against Lewes, Swindon Town and Leyton Orient have given The Dons an opportunity to reach the fifth round of the competition for the first time since their reform.

Wimbledon were crowned the EFL Youth Alliance League Champions last season, showcasing the dangers and talent they have within their squad. On home turf, they will prove tough opposition and the Whites will need to watch a number of players closely.

The winners of Wednesday’s match will progress into the fifth round of the Youth Cup, where they will face Oxford United away from home.

The match will be shown live on LUTV for supporters who are wishing to watch. This will be free of charge, also on the club’s YouTube channel, but due to broadcasting restrictions this will only available within the UK.
