Preview: Leeds United Women vs Barnsley Women

Whites host Yorkshire rivals.

Leeds United Women have the chance to go three unbeaten in the FAWNL Division One North as they welcome Yorkshire rivals Barnsley Women to the Bannister Prentice Stadium.

A Jess Rousseau hat-trick inspired the Whites to an emphatic 5-1 victory over York City in Garforth just over a week ago, before Simon Wood’s side were held to a frustrating goalless draw against Norton & Stockton Ancients last time out.

Those results leave United fifth in the league standings, seven points adrift of Sunday's opposition, but the Whites do have two games in hand on the Reds as they look to finish the season strongly.

After falling to a heavy defeat at the hands of Hull City earlier in the month, Barnsley bounced back in style over the weekend with a 3-1 victory over strugglers FC United of Manchester on home soil.

Goals from Emily Pierrepont, Louise Biggins and Natalie Shaw earned the three points for Lois Daniels’ side at the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, with the Tykes knowing they can leapfrog Durham Cestria into third as they also catch up on fixtures.

The Whites will be out for revenge after the last time the two teams met, when the South Yorkshire outfit came out on top as a clinical second half display saw them run out 3-0 winners.
