Leeds United Women get their 2023/24 FA Cup campaign underway on Sunday, with Chester FC the visitors to the Bannister Prentice Stadium in the 3^rd Qualifying Round.

The Whites are looking to emulate last season’s FA Cup run, which saw them reach the 4^th Round Proper, where they met WSL giants Arsenal on a proud and historic day for the club.

Chester on the other hand, are looking to make the First Round Proper for the first time in the club’s history. They have already advanced through two qualifying rounds to get to this stage.

This weekend’s visitors currently ply their trade in the North West Women’s Regional League Division One South, two tiers below Leeds, therefore come into the game as underdogs but will be confident off the back of six consecutive wins in all competitions.

The game kicks-off at 2pm at Garforth Town FC’s Bannister Prentice Stadium, Cedar Ridge, Garforth, LS25 2PF.

For supporters wishing to attend, parking is available at the ground. Admission prices are £5 for adults, U16s go free. Hot and cold food and drinks are available both in the clubhouse and café.

Last time out

The Whites ran out comfortable 4-1 winners against bottom of the league FC United of Manchester last Wednesday.

Captain Olivia Smart opened the scoring with a stunning curling effort, before Jess Rousseau netted her ninth goal of the season to double the lead.

FC United struck back through Keunna Dill before half time, but the Whites regained control and pulled away in the second half.

Charlyann PIzzarello restored the two-goal lead with her first goal in a Leeds shirt on the hour mark, striking low across goal into the bottom corner.

Leeds were then awarded a penalty in the 79^th minute, which was converted by Kathryn Smith to round off a convincing win.

Players to watch

Rousseau’s goal against FC United of Manchester last time out saw her move to the top of the division’s goalscoring charts with nine goals in all competitions.

Molly Wood is Chester’s main goal threat, netting seven so far this term, she is already over half way to bettering her tally of 13 for last season and has played a key role in the Seals’ strong form of late, finding the back of her net in the last five games.
