Leeds United Women: 2023/24

Squad & numbers announced ahead of new season.

Leeds United Women will kick off their FAWNL Division One North campaign this weekend, taking on Stockport County at the Bannister Prentice Stadium in Garforth, with kick-off at 2:30pm.

Ahead of the season opener, we can now confirm the players from which Rick Passmoor will be able to select from, as well as their numbers for the year ahead!

1 - Carrie Simpson

An experienced goalkeeper who impressed last season, Simpson retains the number one shirt for the new campaign and will be hoping for another big season between the posts.

2 - Izzy Elliott

The youngster had a breakthrough season last year, progressing through the ranks and making a number of first team appearances. A versatile defender, Elliott will be looking to keep improving in 2023/24.

3 - Rebekah Bass

A natural leader in the team whose presence anywhere across the backline or midfield was missed towards the end of the campaign, after suffering an injury. She’s still on her way back to fitness but is always on hand to help her teammates in any way possible.

4 - Olivia Smart

The stand-in skipper is another key figure in the Leeds United backline. Olivia passed the 300-appearance mark in the famous white shirt during the 2022/23 season and will be adding to that again this season, from her natural fullback position.

5 - Ellie Dobson

The first new arrival! We welcome Ellie to the club for the 2023/24 campaign from Newcastle United. Dobson predominantly operates as a midfielder but can also provide cover at centre-back. Ellie is a calm head, with previous experience at Brighouse and Middlesbrough, as well as representing Great Britain at the 2017 World University Football Cup in China.

6 - Danielle Whitham

The heartbeat of the midfield, Whitham brings non-stop energy to the team and is essential to Rick Passmoor’s aggressive style of play. Danielle always covers every blade of grass, looking to win the ball back with strong tackles and progress play up the pitch. She also chipped in with four goals last season and will be looking to add to that tally!

7 - Sarah Danby

Another with plenty of experience in the team, having played higher levels throughout her career. Danby is calm on the ball and has an abundance of quality with her left foot, especially from set-pieces. She is also versatile, with her 28 appearances last season spread across the front line, midfield and at left back.

8 - Leoni Price

A tenacious midfielder who loves the battle in the centre of the pitch. Leoni also offers a calm head in possession and always wants to get on the ball.

9 - Jess Rousseau

The young forward joined the Whites halfway through last season, from Lincoln City, having scored plenty of goals early in her career. She netted four in 13 games since joining Leeds and with bags of pace causing a threat to any back line, Jess will be looking to add to her tally in her first full season in a white shirt.

10 - Kathryn Smith

Playing just in front of the midfield and just behind the striker, Smith operates in that famous number 10 role. Kath has an eye for the spectacular and never shies away from a shot from range, whilst also offering a goal threat from late runs into the box.

11 - Abbie Brown

Brown ended last season at the club’s top scorer and will now be looking to continue that form. An eye for a spectacular goal as well as a poacher’s finish, she causes defenders chaos whether it be from either wing or the central striker position.

12 - Harriet Jakeman

Another new addition to the team. Harriet has plenty of experience in this league with former club Bradford City. A defender who relishes a one-vs-one battle, Jakeman also loves to get forward and offer assists to her teammates.

13 - Millie Robshaw-Charlesworth

A young and ever-improving goalkeeper, Millie continues to learn and develop with the club, competing with Simpson for the starting slot between the posts.

14 - Molly Beacock

Molly is a confident and aggressive young defender, who always looks to keep the opposition striker quiet by dominating both on the ground and in the air. One for the future, Molly made two first team appearances last campaign and will be looking to add to that this season.

15 - Paige Williams

Full of pace and energy, Paige is another versatile player who will operate wherever the team needs. Williams racked up 25 appearances last term, scoring once, with her standout performance coming in the FAWNL Plate victory over Stourbridge.

16 - Laura Bartup

The striker returns! Bartup has been a regular on the scoresheet for the Whites in recent years, but left the club last season, spending a short time at league rivals Hull City. However, the forward returns to Leeds United for the 2023/24 campaign and will continue to wear her favoured number 16 shirt.

18 - Macy Ellis

A quick and direct winger, Ellis had a fantastic first season with the Whites in 2022/23, contributing seven goals in 29 appearances. Macy’s first thought is always to beat her marker and get crosses or shots in, a nightmare for an opposition full-back.

20 - Charlyann Pizzarello

Another exciting new addition for Rick Passmoor and the club. Pizzarello is a current Gibraltar international and joins Leeds after an impressive career to date. Her previous experience includes four years in the USA, stints with Spanish clubs Malaga City and Rayo Vallecano as well as in England with Championship side Lewes FC, and last season’s FAWNL Divison One North Champions Newcastle United Women. Charlyann can operate at left-back or on the wing where she brings lightning-quick pace and plenty of quality.
