Leeds carried on their unbeaten run in pre-season with an entertaining draw at home to Hashtag United. The game was proceeded by a minutes silence for the sad passing of Leeds United legend Terry Cooper.

The home side were on the front foot from the kick-off and went into the lead after seven minutes, when Abbie Brown picked up a loose ball, drove at the Hashtag defence and crossed for Laura Bartup who tapped in from a yard out.

Leeds nearly made it two following great build up by Paige Williams and Rebecca Hunt, when the latter teed up Bartup who fired at the visiting keeper.

Captain, Bridie Hannon then headed an Olivia Smart corner just wide before both Bartup and Kanisha Mae Underdown had shots blocked.

Brown then shot just wide for Leeds when clean through after a superb ball from Rebekah Bass. Grace Gillard then shot just wide for the visitors before Williams saw her low drive tipped round for a corner.

Hashtag came close to a leveller before the break through Macie Windsor’s effort, but United’s ‘keeper did well to turn the effort around the post.

HALF TIME: Leeds United Women 1-0 Hashtag United Women

The visitors started the second half pressing Leeds and almost levelled when Gemma Abela fired wide from 15 yards out.

The side from Essex did draw level following a sustained spell of pressure on 56 minutes, when Ellie Finnerman smartly turned the ball home from a corner.

Leeds looked to respond instantly, with goalscorer Bartup having her powerful shot saved from long range.

It was Hashtag who looked more likely to win the game in the closing stages, with Abele, Maddy Thomas and Cerys Adams all coming close but Leeds held on for the draw to make it three unbeaten in pre season.
