Shane Higgs climbs high against Blackburn

Goalkeeper Shane Higgs has signed a new one-year contract with Leeds United.

Shane is rewarded for a terrific start to the season with an extended deal that takes him up to the end of the 2010/2011 season.

Shane has made 13 appearances so far this season, keeping six clean sheets, but the former Cheltenham goalkeeper is currently sidelined with a thigh injury.

United manager Simon Grayson said: "We're delighted to have Shane for another year. He has done well since he came in, and it's good to have that competition with Casper.

"Shane did well in pre-season, got his opportunity, and he took it with some good performances and some good saves.

"He is out at the moment, but is making good progress. Casper has come in and he's done well and I'm pleased with the competition we have there because we have two good goalkeepers."
