Plymouth Argyle: Match Officials Appointed

Appointments made for Saturday's fixture.

The match officials for Leeds United’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Plymouth Argyle have been confirmed, with Matthew Donohue set to take charge.

After two years spent as an assistant in the EFL, Donohue turned his attentions to refereeing in 2016. The Southend-born official enjoyed a first campaign at National League North and South level, before graduating to National League and Premier League 2 competitions and EFL duties shortly after.

So far this season, Donohue has refereed 19 Championship clashes, as well as appearing in League One, the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

Donohue has only taken charge of two Leeds matches to date, both of which came this campaign. Firstly, he oversaw August's home draw with West Bromwich Albion before being in the middle for January's 1-0 victory over Norwich City at Elland Road.

The referee has taken charge of four Plymouth clashes, including the Pilgrims' opening day victory over Huddersfield Town.

A 4-1 defeat at the hands of Bristol City in September makes it two wins and two losses in those four games, after League One and League Two clashes with Shrewsbury Town and Crewe Alexandra respectively in previous years.

In the six ties involving either club, he is yet to show a red card.

Donohue's last outing in the Sky Bet Championship came at Ashton Gate midweek as Bristol City brought Southampton's long unbeaten run to an end with a 3-1 win.

The referee did award the travelling Saints a late penalty kick, with Adam Armstrong's goal proving to be nothing but a consolation for Russell Martin's side.
