Pascal Struijk: We should have finished the game in the first half

Defender on Crystal Palace loss.

Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk spoke to the media following Sunday’s Premier League defeat at Crystal Palace.

Struijk opened the scoring for the Whites in the first half, but was on the losing side as Jesse Marsch’s side were defeated 2-1 at Selhurst Park.

The Dutchman reflected on the match, believing Leeds should have put the game to bed before Palace got back into the match.

“I feel like we should have finished the game in the first half,” said Struijk.

“We should have scored one more goal and given ourselves more space for the second half.

“They came out strong in the second period though and scored the goals.

“In our plan, we executed it well in the first half, we played well and got the first goal, but conceding the goal late into the half was annoying.

“You have to give them credit for coming out strong in the second half.

“We need to get better and hold onto results or make the difference even bigger, so that if teams pull a goal back, we are still winning.”
