Team news: Llorente and Firpo start against Burnley

Starting XI announced at Elland Road.

Marcelo Bielsa has named his first team for 2022 as we take on Burnley in the Premier League this afternoon.

Two changes have been made to the starting XI, with Diego Llorente and Junior Firpo both back in action - and they replace Joe Gelhardt and Cody Drameh following our last outing.

Illan Meslier starts the new year in net once again, with Llorente and Firpo joining captain Luke Ayling and Robin Koch in the Leeds United defence.

Adam Forshaw is joined in the midfield by Stuart Dallas and Mateusz Klich, with Jack Harrison, Raphinha and Tyler Roberts in attack for the Whites.

Daniel James has also made it back for today’s match and features on our bench alongside goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson, Joe Gelhardt, Lewis Bate, Crysencio Summerville, Sam Greenwood, Jack Jenkins, Kris Moore and Leo Hjelde.

The club was struck with several injuries over the last few weeks of 2021, with Kalvin Phillips, Liam Cooper, Pascal Struijk, Jamie Shackleton, Rodrigo and Patrick Bamford still on the sidelines.

Today’s game is scheduled to kick-off at 2pm. For those not in attendance at Elland Road you can follow the live Leeds United blog here.
