Marcelo Bielsa: Any team requires the same analysis

Head coach on facing Norwich.

Marcelo Bielsa has spoken with the media at his pre-match press conference, to discuss the upcoming trip to face Norwich City.

Sunday’s hosts currently sit bottom of the Premier League table after losing 7-0 to Chelsea in their last match.

The Leeds United head coach has warned that a side is likely to increase their effort, after coming off the back of a heavy defeat.

“A team when they lose so heavily, they multiply the effort so that a similar defeat doesn’t happen in their next game,” Bielsa explained.

“All of these evaluations are not necessary because every game in itself is difficult, due to everything that is in play, and because our reality obliges us more than ever independent of how the opponent feels.

“Any other team will require the same analysis because it is the Premier League and it is our reality at the moment. It’s a team you can divide in two parts so far in the competition.

“The first half of their games, they are a team that wants to be protagonists and in the second half of their games they’ve tried to be solid defensively.

“The defeat to Chelsea was linked to the fact they played a large part of the game a man down.”

Bielsa gave an update on the fitness of his squad, confirming who will or won’t be available for Sunday’s trip to East Anglia.

He said: “Junior Firpo and Raphinha are likely to be available, so is Kalvin Phillips.

“Jamie Shackleton is also likely to be available, Luke Ayling and Patrick Bamford won’t be.

“There is no precise return date for the injuries of Bamford, Ayling or Robin Koch. They can’t be calculated exactly, they are all subject to their evolution.”
