Illan Meslier: We arrive with a lot of motivation

Goalkeeper previews Friday night’s clash.

Illan Meslier has spoken exclusively with LUTV, ahead of Friday night’s Premier League fixture with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Reflecting on defeat to Arsenal last Sunday, the ‘keeper explained how the team has analysed the performance and want to put things right next time out.

“Arsenal was a bad game for us, for me,” Meslier explained.

“It was not a good first half, and after the coach spoke at half-time we found a solution to be better.

“We scored two goals I the second half, changed our attitude and took more risks which were the solutions.

“We analysed what happened in this game and we want to be better for the next one.”

His side currently occupy 11th place in the table following their return to the top division and Meslier is one of a number of players that have shown the ability to step up from last year.

He said: “It’s been a big progression.

"I am very happy because one year ago I started my first game and now I am at 22 games in the Premier League.

“Of course, this is good and I am happy, but I want to continue in this way because it is important for me and just the beginning of my career.

“I can’t stop now, I need to work working in training.”

The Whites lost to Wolves on home turf earlier in the campaign, following Raul Jimenez’s deflected second half goal. Meslier told LUTV how that match will act as motivation.

“I remember this game, it was an unlucky game.

“But, this is is football and because of this we want to play against Wolves, we want to change this feeling.

“We arrive with a lot of motivation to try to win this game, it’s important for me and for us to win against Wolves.

“It’s not possible to think about another result, just the win and to play well, with a good performance for everybody.

“We want to win every game and play well."
