Marcelo Bielsa: The victory for Arsenal was fair

Head coach on defeat against Arsenal.

Marcelo Bielsa has spoken with the media, after seeing his side lose 4-2 at the Emirates Stadium.

The Leeds United head coach gave his thoughts on how the game went, after the full-time whistle.

“In the first half we didn’t manage the circulation from our half to their half,” Bielsa explained.

“When we were building up from the back we didn’t take the ball from our half to their half cleanly.

“There was no surprise for either of the two managers.

“They knew how we were going to press and they resolved this. We knew how they were going to press us and we didn’t manage to resolve this.

“In the second half, the opposite happened. We managed to do these things better than the opponent."

The hosts made the scoreline 4-0 just two minutes into the second half. Goals from Pascal Struijk and Helder Costa reduced the deficit but Bielsa’s side couldn’t complete the come-back.

“The fourth goal at the start of the second half was a big blow,” Marcelo stated.

“I value a lot the way we played in the second half.

“I think we could have scored a third goal, but I don’t know if we would have deserved to draw if we had manage to score a third goal.

“I think the victory for Arsenal was fair but when we were 4-2, we had two or three chances to score. This would have made us hope.”
