Pascal Struijk: Communication between us all was good

Defender on Burnley victory.

Pascal Struijk has spoken exclusively with LUTV, following the 1-0 win over Burnley at Elland Road.

Playing in central defence, Struijk put in a commanding display in helping his side to secure the three points.

He said: “It was good to get a clean sheet, but it was very tough.

“They’re a solid side, I think overall we had a good performance.

“Going into the game, I made sure I was prepared to fight and get the aerials.

“Especially in the last few seconds, I think there was two free-kicks and four corners where everyone came up!

“In the end, no goals though, so it was good.”

Struijk played alongside Kalvin Phillips and Luke Ayling in a back three. The trio looked comfortable throughout, despite Burnley’s late flurry.

“They had two strikers so we made sure we had one man spare,” Struijk explained.

“I think the communication between us all was good and we won most of our duels.

“I think it shows different sides to our game.

“We still try to attack, but against an organised side like Burnley it made it quite difficult.

“So, I think with the play we’ve done today, we’ll take the clean sheet and goal.”
