Patrick Bamford: If we outwork everyone we have half a chance

Striker on Premier League campaign.

Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford spoke to LUTV about the season so far.

The Whites have picked up seven points from the first four games of the Premier League season, on the club’s return to the top-flight for the first time in 16 years.

With no game this weekend due to the international break, Bamford spoke about what the side have been up to and what it has been like to play in the Premier League.

“We had a couple of days off, before coming back in for double gym and running like normal after a few days off.

“We’re used to more players going away on international duty now and I think that is testament to how well the lads have done, with everyone getting called up.

“I think almost everyone is surprised at how we are doing, but those who saw us last year will know what we are about.

“The fact we have brought the same energy, enthusiasm and style that we had in the Championship, I think people are respecting it.

“You see a lot of teams come up and sit back against the big teams hoping for a draw, but we go with the mentality of having nothing to lose and people are warming to Leeds.”

Bamford is Leeds’ top scorer having netted three goals in four games and revealed what his mentality has been like after winning promotion at Elland Road last season.

He said: “I’ve always believed I’ve been good enough to play in the Premier League, but when I previously played in the Premier League, I don’t think my attitude matched up to my ability and I think attitude is more important actually.

“I’ve looked at it in the sense that I have a point to prove.

"I’ve always had the self-belief that I’m good enough to play at this level and I have to keep trying to prove it.

“Every game you look at is a tough game in the Premier League and for us, we have to go out there and believe we can win and try and do what we’ve done in our first four games and see where it gets us.

“We know as long as we outwork everyone we have half a chance, we’ve got good players, but if you work hard, you give yourself more of a chance.”
