Gaetano Berardi: We deserved the win

Leeds United defender on Hull City win

After a performance that got Leeds fans singing his praises on social media, Leeds United defender Gaetano Berardi spoke to LUTV following Tuesday’s victory over Hull City.

The Whites have racked up 13 clean sheets in all competitions this season, winning seven on the bounce since November 2nd.

The club's unbeaten run now stretches all the way back to the club's centenary match and Berardi was happy this could be extended further against the Tigers.

"It was hard work as always, but we deserved the win," said Berardi.

"A clean sheet is always good, as it means everyone is doing a good job.

"When we don't concede, it's because of all of the players, not just the defenders and the goalkeeper.

"It was difficult to find spaces, but it was good to wait for the right moments, we had patience, and the goals were deserved.

"We always have the feeling that we can score at any time, if it's not the first half, it's the second half."

"It's hard, especially when we play three games in one week, but we have the energy to do it, and that's why patience is important."

Despite having one of the best defensive record in Europe, Berardi says the side are not getting ahead of themselves, as they focus on Saturday's clash with Cardiff City at Elland Road.

"It's a good record, but at this moment, it's not our job to make records or look at the table.

"We need to be focused on the next game.

"We did it last year with seven games in a row, then after that it wasn't easy and 11 points isn't a big gap."
