LIAM COOPER: WE HAVE TO PUT ON A SHOW

Captain on QPR game.

Leeds United skipper Liam Cooper spoke to the press ahead of Sunday’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Queens Park Rangers at Elland Road.

Sunday’s match marks the close to the 2017/18 season and a crowd of over 30,000 is expected to be in attendance.

Cooper gave his thoughts on the season as a whole and is confident the side will be able to finish the campaign with three points.

As a group we are bitterly disappointed this year, it has been a tough season, but we have to go out on a high note,” said Cooper.

“It is not hard to get yourself up for the game, it is the last match of the season, the fans will be there in numbers and we have to put on a show and take it seriously which we will be doing.

“The new manager has come in and he has been a breath of fresh air, he wants to play the right way and I’m sure he will set his stamp come next season.

“He is a very good coach, gets the players motivated and is very honest and he tells us if we are not pulling our weight.

“He has been very good since he has come in and a pleasure to work with.

“We as players and staff though will be judged on results, we haven’t been getting them and we have to turn that around.

“The fans themselves know they are a very important part of the club and we know that as well.

“We feel we have let them down to an extent, we have to be much better than we have been and I am sure we will be.

“I’m looking forward to a long, hard pre-season, I can’t wait to get back in already, because we need to put things right, we are bitterly disappointed and are already looking forward to next year.”
