TOM PEARCE: THE GAFFER HAS GIVEN ME LOADS OF CONFIDENCE

Left back on Barnsley win.

Leeds United left back Tom Pearce spoke to the media following the Whites 2-1 victory over Barnsley.

Pearce, making his third start for Leeds, netted his first goal with a fine run and strike from 25 yards.

The full back was delighted to score his first goal and to come away with the three points.

“It was unbelievable, just playing for Leeds United is an honour, but to score- I can’t describe it,” said Pearce.

“There was space to drive into and you see people shoot all the time, so I thought I’d have a go and luckily it has gone in.

“The gaffer has given me loads of confidence and the Academy and first team lads have been class with me.

“The Academy has some good players, the Under-18s have also won the league, so there is a lot of talent coming through.

“At the start of every season the aim is to try and get into the first team, luckily I have been able to stay in and around it for the last two months.

“Everyone in the team are great lads, it is like a big family, everyone is friendly and helps each other along.

“I want to stay in the team, hopefully I can perform well and hopefully we can end the season with two wins in the final games now.”
