PAUL HECKINGBOTTOM: WE WANT THE POINTS

Head coach on Sheffield Wednesday.

Leeds United head coach Paul Heckingbottom is looking forward to Saturday’s Yorkshire derby against Sheffield Wednesday.

The Whites entertain the Owls at Elland Road and will be hoping to avenge a 3-0 defeat earlier in the season.

Both sides have struggled for form so far in 2018, with the visitors just eight points above the drop zone, but United’s head coach believes it has the ingredients of a great encounter.

“We have a really good game coming up for us on Saturday, against a team scrapping for points and it is a Yorkshire derby,” said Heckingbottom.

“It is two big clubs, we want the points, but Sheffield Wednesday want the points for different reasons, so it promises to be a good game.

“We enjoy playing at home and we enjoy playing against big teams at home.

“There will be a good atmosphere, the fans will be behind the players and we need them to respond in the right way.

“A lot of the time that brings positive results, where the players raise the fans and the fans raise the players."

Heckingbottom also gave an update on a number of his players currently on the sidelines.

He said: “The boys that are injured are steadily recovering, but we aren’t expecting any of them back for the weekend.

“Liam Cooper is making good progress, but due to the amount of bleeding he had in the muscle, he is not going to be available for Saturday.

“Luke Ayling is progressing to the point where he will begin gravity assisted running soon, which is good for him.

“Tyler Roberts is similar, he has been progressing well there and if he continues, he will be outside in a couple of weeks for the next stage of his rehab, so everyone is moving as expected."
