THOMAS CHRISTIANSEN: I SEE A GOOD TEAM

Head coach on day one.

Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen spoke exclusively to LUTV following the first day of pre-season training.

The Whites first team reported back to Thorp Arch on Monday as preparations for the 2017/18 season got underway.

Christiansen took charge of his first training session and the Whites head coach was pleased with what he saw.

“The first day went as expected, the players wanted to come back and prove they are worthy to stay at Leeds United and find a place in the first eleven,” said Christiansen.

“From what I saw on day one, I am really happy, I see a good team with a good atmosphere, willing to go strong in the training.

“I’m pleased with the pre-season schedule, I’m happy that we are going to Austria and will play a couple of important games there against good teams.

“Also here, we have several friendly matches before the league starts and that is how you transfer all of the work from the training field and where you see the evolution.

“Our aim is to arrive in the best condition on the 6th August against Bolton Wanderers, that is the target and we will increase everything as pre-season progresses.

“The players will get to know how I think and want them to play, we included a lot of different concepts into our exercises already and this will go on every day.

“I have a way I would like the players to play, so it is important for them to understand that and practise it.

“Of course this isn’t the only way to play and the players may be of a different mentality and like different concepts, but I will try with the team that I have, to adapt to the best solution, in order to go for the win.”
