CHARLIE TAYLOR: IT IS BRILLIANT TO BE BACK

Left-back on return from injury.

Leeds United defender Charlie Taylor spoke exclusively to the official website after returning to first team training.

Taylor hasn’t featured for the Whites since our 1-0 victory over Brentford at Elland Road back in December.

The left-back could make a first team return in tonight’s fixture with Birmingham City and he is delighted to be back in the fold.

“It’s brilliant to be back, it has been a long time and you miss going out to train everyday with the lads,” said Taylor.

“The physio room can be a lonely place at times, but it is a great feeling and good buzz to be back out on the pitches with everyone.

“It’s the longest lay-off I’ve had in my professional career, so it has been very frustrating at times, but the medical team have been brilliant and I’m glad to be back.

“I feel good, in the last few weeks the physio’s have put me through a lot of tough and demanding sessions, which have brought me up to speed.

“In training I feel strong and fit and I can’t wait to get back out on to the pitch playing in games again.

“With the team doing well it has made things slightly better, but it is such a frustrating time, especially going to watch the games and knowing that you can’t play.

“First and foremost I am a fan, so I go to the games, but I just want to be out there, so it is torture really to watch a game knowing you could be playing in it.

“Obviously I’ve got no right to come straight back into the team, Gaetano Berardi has done a fantastic job, not in his natural position and he has made it look easy, he has played left-back better than I could ever play right-back.

“I’ve got no complaints, I just have to fight, wait and be patient for my chance now and hopefully the lads keep on doing well.

“I’ve never been at the club when we have been fighting for the Play-Offs so I want to be back out there and playing.

“We are at the business end of the season now, it is an exciting time and I want to be a part of it.”
