EUNAN O’KANE: IT IS A HUGE FIXTURE

Midfielder on Aston Villa.

Republic of Ireland international Eunan O’Kane is relishing the visit of Aston Villa to Elland Road on Saturday.

The Villans come to Elland Road unbeaten in their first seven games under manager Steve Bruce as two of the form sides come head to head.

United’s midfielder admitted it will be a difficult match, but sees no reason why Leeds cannot continue the good form of their own.

“We are just taking it one game at a time and trying not to get caught up in the hype that surrounds some of the games such as Saturday’s, we are focused on what we are paid to do which is to perform on the pitch,” said O’Kane.

“Aston Villa are in very good form, I think they are the only club in the Championship who are on a better run than us, it will be a tough game and it is a huge fixture.

“They spent a lot of money in the summer improving their squad and I am sure their aim this season is promotion.

“However we won’t go into the game with any fear though, because we are on a very good run ourselves.

“We go into every game believing we can win and come away with the points, so I’m sure it will be another great game to watch.”

O’Kane also spoke about his own injury situation, with the midfielder currently playing through the pain barrier.

He said: “I’ve had a niggling injury since coming back from international duty, but it has been a case of patching me up and getting me on the pitch, it’s nothing major.

“It is frustrating for no-one more than me, but it is what it is and the medical team are doing everything they can to get me ready.

“Tuesday was a big game for us and one I was keen to play in, it was a shame I had to come off so soon, but Kalvin Phillips and Ronaldo Vieira did a terrific job.”
