GARRY MONK: WE ARE EXPECTING A DIFFICULT GAME

Head coach on Rotherham.

Leeds United head coach Garry Monk spoke exclusively to LUTV ahead of Saturday’s trip to Rotherham United.

The Whites are looking to bounce back from last Sunday’s 2-0 defeat against Newcastle at Elland Road when they head to the New York Stadium.

Monk started by giving his assessment of the past few days along with his team news ahead of the fixture.

“We look good, we have had a good week’s training so far, everyone is determined and focused,” said Monk.

“Last weekend we were disappointed with the result, we can take a lot out of the game though, it was a really good learning process for a lot of the young players.

“Liam Bridcutt is back out on the pitches this week, hopefully he will be back into full training at some point next week.

“Pablo Hernandez is going to be missing probably for another two or three weeks which is really disappointing.

“I trust everyone in the squad though, they all understand their responsibilities, the whole squad will be used this season and everyone will contribute.”

The Leeds United head coach also spoke about his relationship with Millers manager Kenny Jackett and admitted he is expecting a tough 90 minutes.

“I have great respect for Kenny, he took me to Swansea and was fantastic with me, he is a very good and experienced manager.

“Rotherham will want the points as much as we want the points, we will need to show our quality, try and dominate to come out on top.

“We are expecting a very difficult game, it is a derby game and the passion and spirit always comes out from the fans on these occasions and we are preparing for that.

“We are focusing on ourselves, if we get to the performance level we know we can, we know we will continue win games.

“This group has a really good mentality, it is important now that we go to Rotherham and show we can react, like we have done in the past.”
