Fundraising volunteers in attendance.

Guide Dogs fundraising volunteers will be in attendance at Elland Road on Saturday as Leeds United take on Preston North End in the Sky Bet Championship.

The group of volunteers will be on site ahead of kick-off to raise funds that will help support people living with sight loss to live independently, actively and well. If any supporters can spare some time before the match to say hello and donate where possible, they will be based outside the East Stand at the stadium.

Guide Dogs has developed a wide range of services over the last 90 years to support people living with a vision impairment. Children and adults. Friends and family. Whoever you are, the charity’s expert staff, dedicated volunteers and life-changing dogs are here to help.

The charity is almost entirely funded by donations and is the world’s largest assistance dog organisation. As world leaders in puppy socialisation and dog training, Guide Dogs is the only organisation to breed and train guide dogs in the UK. It is also the largest employer of specialists dedicated to helping children and young people overcome the challenges of sight loss.

The charity has a community team based in North Leeds, and as well as donations, is also in urgent need of volunteers to help support their work across West Yorkshire and beyond.

There’s a variety of roles that you can get involved with, whether you can spare a couple of hours or a few days. There are opportunities to foster dogs while they go through their training, and in particular there’s a need for more people to volunteer to distribute collection boxes, organise fundraising events, and raise awareness.

Without donations and its network of volunteers, Guide Dogs wouldn’t be able to reach and support as many visually impaired people as they do.
