Premier League Primary Stars tournament to be hosted at Elland Road

Youngsters to take part in annual competition.

The Premier League will be hosting their annual Primary Stars Football Tournament along with the Under-11s (U11s) Girls National Football Tournament at Elland Road in June.

The Primary Stars tournament, now in its 16th year, is open to all Premier League teams and the U11s Girls National tournament is open to all 104 Community Clubs that deliver the Premier League Primary Stars programme.

Each team going through to the finals in June have attended local and regional events to qualify for their place at Elland Road, with three local primary schools qualifying to represent Leeds United across the two-day event.

St Joseph’s Wetherby will represent the club in the mixed football tournament, after coming out on top in a closely contested finals day at Thorp Arch training ground in February. They previously came in the top two of the local competition which was held at John Smeaton Leisure Centre back in October, and they were one of 14 teams that players across seven competitions.

Gledhow Primary and St Anthony’s Primary will both represent Leeds United in the U11s Girls National Finals at Elland Road, with Gledhow qualifying after their win at the girls’ finals day at West Riding County FA in February. St Anthony’s route to Elland Road took a bit longer, after losing out to Gledhow in the final at West Riding, they then took part in the Yorkshire regional finals hosted by Sheffield United, after their second-place finish they managed to make it to the event in June.

The Leeds United Foundation would like to wish the best of luck to St Joseph’s Wetherby, Gledhow Primary School and St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School for the competition at the home of the Whites.
