Places still available for the Leeds United Foundation NCS programme.

The Leeds United Foundation are still encouraging youngsters to sign up and be a part of the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme.

NCS was initially founded to help young people develop skills and reach their potential and it is has evolved into a programme that really helps to build bridges in communities with the main aims of making the world a fairer, kinder and more compassionate place.

The summer course is still set to go ahead dependent on the developments made with COVID-19 and so youngsters aged from 15 to 17 can still sign up to be a part of the four-week initiative. Please note that there will be a full refund made to everyone if the programme does have to be cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

There are four phases involved in the summer programme, including two residential trips, the first is an outdoor activity week based around teamwork and learning new skills with the second based in student accommodation where youngsters can learn vital life skills, especially helpful for those that go on to study at University.

The following two weeks are focused on giving back to the local community with the youngsters getting involved in creating Social Action Projects, this can involve fundraising campaigns, helping to clean up public spaces and looking after the more vulnerable people in our communities.

The team at NCS are continuing to work daily with the government, alongside their network of partners on long-term planning through the COVID-19 pandemic, which includes the summer programme, given the vital role that NCS can play in helping with the nation’s recovery.
