Food delivery service expanded

Foundation staff continue to make vital deliveries across local communities.

Leeds United Foundation staff are continuing to distribute essential food items throughout the city following the huge delivery from His Church on Tuesday afternoon.

Several vehicles were loaded with another batch of food parcels on Wednesday morning for a second round of deliveries to ensure that vulnerable families in our local communities will have enough food to see them through this difficult period.

Coaches left packages of fresh food at Grange Farm Primary School, Shakespeare Primary School, Cottingley Children's Centre, Palm Cove and Holbeck Together. The food left at each location will then be further distributed to families with children and individuals that need extra support and are struggling to afford or get access to essentials.

The club’s official charity has a long-standing relationship with Palm Cove Society who provide accommodation to many individuals on a daily basis. The organisation operates as a halfway house to give the ever increasing culturally diverse residents the opportunity to develop life skills and basic knowledge required for UK living.

The delivery of food made to Holbeck Together will be distributed to local GP’s, the Housing Association and local primary schools. The local charity is still aiming to raise crucial funds to support the most vulnerable people in our local area, in the shadow of Elland Road. This is a long-term scheme that will ensure families and the older generation are well taken care of and have necessary provisions. You can donate to their fundraising campaign, United Together, here.

West Yorkshire Police are also due to collect items from the stadium on Wednesday afternoon, these items will then be distributed further afield to vulnerable people and dedicated NHS staff working on the frontline.

The COVID-19 pandemic has created a large increase in the amount of people that require extra support due to workers losing jobs, children being unable to claim free school meals and families in isolation and unable to get access to essential items and therefore it is crucial we all play our part in helping those who need it.
