EFL Day of Action: PLPS host science workshops

Premier League Primary Stars deliver science lessons in partnership with Utilita.

The Leeds United Foundation hosted a special science morning at Beeston Primary School on Tuesday morning in partnership with club sponsor Utilita as part of the EFL Day of Action.

The activity was delivered by the Premier League Primary Stars team and was centred around the topic of energy. Activities were split into three different workshops and delivered by coaches from the club’s official charity to around 100 pupils across three Year 5 classes.

Club partner Utilita provided all of the youngsters with a Kinetic Energy Journal that had to be completed during the various sessions with help from teachers and the Leeds United Foundation staff.

As part of the educational workshops, there was also a creative area where students were tasked with taking part in a physical activity where they needed to measure their own pulse and a mini competition was held were the young students were asked to design their own energy reduction posters. Tickets to a match at Elland Road were given to the winners of the competition, courtesy of Utilita, with pupils able to showcase everything they'd learned during the morning.

Mathew Everett, Primary Education Lead at the Leeds United Foundation, said: "We had a great time once again at Beeston Primary School delivering science workshops with the Year 5 classes, the pupils in attendance were really enthusiastic about the activities and hopefully they all had fun whilst learning something new.

"I'd like to say a big thank you to Utilita for their support, a second year running, which has enabled us to come and work in these local school's - using the power of sport and the Leeds United badge to motivate, inspire and engage more children in education and learning."
