Disability programme plays host to Kiko Casilla

First-team star takes part in a 'Turn Up and Play' session with Leeds United Foundation.

Kiko Casilla paid a special visit to a Leeds United Foundation disability session on Wednesday to meet with adult participants that are part of the Pan Disability football team.

The evening sessions are held at the Ramgarhia Sports Centre in Leeds city centre and are part of the Turn Up and Play programme, they are delivered by coaches from the club’s official charity and designed for players who are living with a disability but have a high level of mobility, some physical fitness and show tactical awareness.

The Leeds United goalkeeper was on hand during the visit to spend some time with the young adults, offering them advice and guidance, working on penalties with the group and he even took part in one of their football matches before taking the time to have photos and sign autographs.

Anthony Hall, Disability Coach for the Leeds United Foundation, said: “All of the participants and family members loved the session today, all of guys just love to play football but then to have Kiko Casilla here as well who is one of their Leeds United heroes, playing a match with them - it is something they will never forget.

"We run these sessions every week and to see the joy they get from the training sessions and the matches, it's fantastic to see - they're so enthusiastic and willing to learn and as a coach that is all you can ask for."

Turn Up and Play caters for those aged 16 and over, across the disability spectrum, whether it is a mild learning difficulty, an autistic spectrum disorder (ASD), a physical difficulty, sensory impairment or a mental health problem.

The Leeds United Foundation deliver a number of disability programmes, working with disabled people across Leeds every day in the hope of impacting their lives in a positive way through the art of football.
