Leeds United express thanks to Hull City for support

Messaging around tragedy gestures.

Leeds United face Hull City in the Sky Bet Championship on Wednesday evening and we would like to place on record our thanks to our hosts for their support ahead of the fixture.

The tragic loss of Christopher Loftus and Kevin Speight in Istanbul 23 years ago lives on in the hearts and minds of our fan base and therefore the proactive approach from those at Hull City, including posts from Tan Kesler and Acun Ilicali, to encourage their fans to remember Chris and Kev is hugely appreciated.

Angus Kinnear, CEO at Leeds United, said: “We would like to thank Acun and Tan for their messages in recent days, it’s great to see that Chris and Kev are in the minds of custodians of clubs across the country.

“We know that Hull City fans have displayed Turkish flags in the crowd since Acun bought the club and therefore it is great to see the club being so proactive in reminding their supporters to keep Chris and Kev in mind ahead of tonight's game.”

We wish everyone a safe journey ahead of the trip to the MKM Stadium this evening.
