Forward on Under-23s victory over Liverpool.
Leeds United Under-23s forward Joe Gelhardt spoke exclusively to LUTV following Sunday’s 4-0 victory over Liverpool.
The England Under-20 international hit two goals against the Reds, as the Whites produced a triumphant performance in Merseyside.
Gelhardt gave his thoughts on the win and heaped praise on his fellow teammates.
“It was a good team performance,” said Gelhardt.
“I was happy to get two goals and an assist, but it’s all about the hard work from the team, from the defence, midfield, strikers and the goalkeeper who kept us in it at times as well, we all worked so hard and we got our rewards.
“All the forwards we have are dangerous players and have a goal in them and the midfielders as well, we have seen a few from them too.
“Everyone in the team has a goal in them which is a good thing.
“The quality in the league is noticeable both technically and tactically, the teams are a step up, but I think all of the lads have done well with the step up overall.”
The forward also spoke through both of his goals, which were both spectacular, with a fine lob from just inside the opposition half and a delightful long-range effort which found the top corner.
He said: “I liked the second goal.
“For the first one I saw the goalkeeper off his line and I thought ‘why not’ and thankfully it went in.
“For the second one, something inside me just said ‘shoot’, so I let it go and thankfully it went in as well.”
