Under-14s win Flint Micasa Cup

Academy U14s team win international competition during tournament in Norway.

Leeds United Academy recently sent the Under-14s squad to Norway to take part in the Flint Micasa Cup with the team being crowned overall winners of the international tournament.

Held in Tønsberg, a city located in southern Norway, there were 16 players and four members of staff that were part of the travelling contingent for the trip that took place from Friday 7th June to Monday 10th June.

The tournament was hosted by IL Flint with matches played on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday – the team played in a total of seven games, winning six of them and drawing the other.

Over the course of the competition the Leeds United Under-14s were the overall top scorers as well as being the team that kept the most clean sheets.

They faced two academy teams from Norway in their final two fixtures; first-up was Lillestrøm in the semi-final before they took on Viking FK in the final, running out 2-1 winners.

This was the first time the club had been involved in the Flint Misca Cup tournament and the club was one of only two club’s from the UK in attendance, along with West Ham United.
