Preview: Leeds Modernians vs Leeds United Women

A look ahead to the County Cup semi final.

A place in the cup final is up for grabs this weekend as Leeds United Women travel to face city rivals Leeds Modernians Women in the West Riding County Cup semi finals.

Simon Wood's side have enjoyed a strong campaign so far in the competition, with resounding victories over Harrogate Town and Brighouse Town seeing the Whites progress to this stage.

United fell at the last hurdle in last year's edition of the tournament, losing out to Brighouse in the final at the West Riding County FA Headquarters.

The Whites have pedigree in the competition, lifting the trophy on five occasions since 2004, with the last success coming in the 2011/12 campaign.

Despite the previous weekend's league clash with Chorley falling foul of the weather, Leeds head into the tie in fine form having beaten Chester le Street 3-1 on the road last time out in difficult conditions.

Leeds Modernians booked their spot in the semi finals with an impressive 5-0 victory against Ossett United, thanks to goals from Tanya Fozzard, Matilda Beckley, Leah Garbutt, Bethan Barkley and Ruth Dacey.

In league action, the Modernians sit third in the West Riding County Premier Division having won six of their seven matches so far. With a number of games in hand on the teams above them, Sunday's hosts can go top of the table should results go their way.

The winners will face either Altofts Ladies or Halifax FC Women in the final.
