Youngsters handed extended chance to impress...

Jonny Webb on his debut at Northampton

Defender Jonny Webb and midfielder Josh Falkingham have been handed extended opportunities to pursue their careers at Leeds United.

Webb and Falkingham have both been awarded six-month deals and they will look to impress during pre-season and early next term.

Jonny, a 19-year-old centre-back offered a one-year contract by Gary McAllister, made his first team debut at Northampton in the FA Cup last November and recently spent time on loan with Newcastle Blue Star.

Josh, who is 18 and hails from South Leeds, returned to full fitness after injury this season and he impressed in both the under-18s and the reserves during the final weeks of the campaign.

Meanwhile, four young professionals and two scholars have been released from the club and are free to pursue their footballing careers elsewhere.

Nathan Cartman, Chris Ovington, Ross Wilkinson, Matt Edwards, Lee Booth, and Sam Jerome are all parting company with the club.

Everyone at Leeds United wishes the departing young players the very best of luck for the future.

Further announcements regarding our senior players out of contract will be made on leedsunited.com in due course.
