Junior Firpo: It was a really good reaction

Defender gives his thoughts on win at Boro.

Leeds United defender Junior Firpo was pleased with his side’s inspired comeback victory away against Middlesbrough, as the Whites fought from a goal behind to win 4-3 at the Riverside.

The Dominican Republic international was influential for Daniel Farke’s side, crossing superbly for Patrick Bamford to score against his former club for Leeds’ second, before setting Crysencio Summerville away to grab what would prove to be the winner on Teesside.

After the match, the left-back gave his thoughts to the media.

“I think we started a little bit unlucky with the goal that we conceded and then we came back pretty quick. It was a really good reaction from the team.

“To be fair we had to defend a lot of set pieces, a lot of crosses but that is what it takes. This was a team that play that really good, so we had to be spot on.

“I think they were doing a really good press on us, so it was difficult to build up with our structure. I think they studied us really, really well.

“We conceded three goals, all the defenders are really, really angry with ourselves. We talked between us and we said that we don't concede any more.

“When we came in at half-time, we said that we will defend with a low block and we will take advantage of the counter-attack because we are the better team doing the counter-attacks.

“We have a lot of pace, we have really good players up front and when you have those guys up front I think it's a really, really good advantage.

“I think we have to try to control the games a little bit more because the last two games will be pretty tough, I think more or less the same.

“We have to win the games. I think every game is a final for us and we showed good character.

"We didn't score in the last two games and we didn't create that many chances. Here, we created a lot and scored four goals that were important.”
