Preview: Leeds United vs Millwall

Whites back in Sky Bet Championship action.

Leeds United have a chance to move up the Sky Bet Championship standings this Sunday, as they welcome Millwall to Elland Road in a 3pm clash.

A familiar foe over the years, the Whites left The Den with the bragging rights earlier on in the campaign thanks to an emphatic 3-0 victory in London.

A Joel Piroe brace put Daniel Farke's side into a commanding position, before a well-taken strike from Georginio Rutter added gloss to the scoreline for United.

A stunning start to 2024 has seen Leeds go unbeaten in 12 league matches, picking up 11 wins in that time and now with the possibility of going into the international break at the summit.

Last time out, the Whites secured an important 2-0 win against Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough, with goals coming either side of half-time courtesy of Patrick Bamford and Willy Gnonto.

Sunday’s clash with the Lions will prove to be another stern test for Farke’s side, with Millwall enjoying an up-turn in fortunes after bringing former striker and head coach Neil Harris back into the fold.

Since replacing the outgoing Joe Edwards, the Londoners have picked up 10 points out of 12 available, notably grabbing a 2-1 win away at Southampton on Harris' first game in charge of his second stint with the club.

Against Birmingham City last weekend, the match looked to be headed for a goalless draw until Tottenham Hotspur loanee Japhet Tanganga rose highest to meet a late corner, nodding home to win the game in dramatic fashion.

That four match unbeaten run has seen Millwall put daylight between themselves and the drop zone, sitting four points above 22nd-placed Huddersfield Town in the battle for Sky Bet Championship survival.
