Sunderland: Match officials appointed

Appointments made for Tuesday’s fixture.

The match officials for Leeds United’s away trip to Sunderland on Tuesday have been confirmed with Dean Whitestone set to be the man in the middle.

Born in Northampton, Whitestone has officiated over 500 games in the EFL and is part of the Select Group 2 list of referees.

He has previously taken charge of nine Leeds United fixtures, with the Whites winning twice, drawing four times and losing three times.  He has issued 19 yellow cards to Leeds players in those games.

Whitestone has twice refereed Leeds this season, the 0-0 Yorkshire derby draw with Sheffield Wednesday and the 1-0 away win against Leicester City in November.

He has taken charge of Sunderland on five previous occasions, overseeing two wins and three losses in all competitions, issuing eight yellow cards.

His last match in charge of the Black Cats, was their 3-1 home victory over Birmingham City in November.
