Leeds United forward reflects on Goal of the Month Award
After his goal against Millwall was voted the EFL Championship's Goal of the Month for September, Leeds United forward Joel Piroe is not resting on his laurels.
The stunning counter-attack, saw Georginio, Gnonto and Piroe combine beautifully to grab the first goal in a 3-0 win at The Den.
Upon receiving his award, Piroe said: "I'm very happy, it's always nice to score goals and even better to get rewarded for it.
"We worked on many combinations in training, between myself and Georgi and it went perfect that time. It was like a perfect team goal."
With five goals in his first eight games for the Whites, Piroe has hit the ground running since joining from Swansea in August.
The forward puts his positive start to life at Leeds down to the squad, saying "I feel like I've settled in really well, but it wasn't that hard thanks to how great the players, staff and fans have been, everyone has been really helpful and supportive."
Eleven games into the Championship season, the 24 year old is very clear on what his aims are for the rest of the season, "I want to score as many goals as possible and to get promoted. It's nice to win awards like this and they're always welcome, but it's not the main goal."
