Leeds United have confirmed the arrival of midfielder Ilia Gruev from Weder Bremen.

The midfielder becomes the latest signing at the club over the summer transfer window and we’ve got 10 facts to help you get to know him further:

 •    Ilia was born is Sofia, Bulgaria

•    His date of birth is 6^th May 2000 and he shares the same birthday as actor George Clooney

•    The midfielder is 1.85m tall, which equates to 6ft 1’

•    Gruev’s father, Iliya Gruev was also a professional footballer and won 13 international caps for Bulgaria

•    He made his first senior appearance for Werder Bremen on 23^rd December 2020, helping the German outfit defeat Hannover 96 3-0.

•    Gruev was part of the Werder Bremen side which won promotion from 2. Bundesliga in 2022, playing 26 times

•    On 23^rd March 2022, Gruev scored his first senior goal, in a 4-1 away victory over FC Schalke 04

•    At youth level, Gruev won 22 caps for Bulgaria, scoring two goals

•    He has won eight caps for the Bulgaria senior team, having made his international debut in a 5-1 victory over Gibraltar on 23^rd September 2022

•    On 31^st August 2023, Gruev signed for Leeds United on a four-year contract
