Leeds United sign Swansea City striker Joel Piroe

Forward joins the Whites.

Leeds United are delighted to announce the signing of Swansea City striker Joel Piroe, subject to a work permit and international clearance.

The 24-year-old Dutchman joins the Whites in a permanent transfer, arriving at Elland Road for an undisclosed fee.

He has put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal in West Yorkshire, running until the summer of 2027.

Piroe joined PSV Eindhoven’s academy from Feyenoord in 2014 and went on to become a regular for Jong PSV.

After impressing, Piroe moved to Sparta Rotterdam on loan for the 2019/20 campaign and made 18 appearances in the Eredivisie, before the league was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

On his return to PSV, he went on to make his full debut for the club and featured 14 times in all competitions, scoring three goals.

In July 2021, Piroe completed a move to Swansea for an undisclosed fee and went on to have an instant impact, netting four goals in his first five games for the South Wales side.

The talisman ended his first campaign at Swansea with a very impressive 24 goals in 47 games, in all competitions.

He then followed that up last season by again reaching the 20 goal mark in another prolific campaign for the Swans.

Over the past month, Piroe has featured in all four of Swansea’s matches, striking twice in the Carabao Cup and departs the Swansea.com Stadium with a record of 46 goals in 96 games.

He has also won 26 caps for the Netherlands at youth level from Under-15 to Under-20 level, scoring 10 goals.

Piroe becomes the club’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window, following the arrivals of Ethan Ampadu, Sam Bryam, Karl Darlow and Joe Rodon.

He will wear the number 7 shirt during his time at Elland Road.
